Zamfara Orphans Mass wedding, First lady urged for alternative dispute resolution to avoid rampant divorce

Hajiya Hurriya called on the 400 couples to approach the state Zakkat Board in case of any martial disputes to avoid rampant divorce.

The first lady, Hajiya Hurriya made the call while celebrating mass wedding of 400 orphans and other social intervention programs at the state Zakkat and Endowment Board, Gusau.

“Under the Administration of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, our state continues to prioritize welfare programmes that uplift our people and reduce hardship. I am personally proud of the consistent and meaningful efforts of the Zakat Board in fulfilling this responsibility. The first lady said.

The mass wedding Supported the marriage of 200 female orphans, through essential household items such as furniture, bedding, and a ₦200,000 dowry, to enable them begin their marital lives with respect and comfort.

Another part of the program includes the Settlement of debt-related cases mounted to the tune of more than 67 million naira across Shari’ah Courts and Correctional Centres, granting deserving individuals a second chance to regain freedom.

The Board also empowered 200 small-scale traders and petty traders with the Business grants of ₦50,000 each who are widows, orphans, and caregivers to boost their capacity and become financially independent among others.

First Lady also donated essential household items to further strengthen the intervention.

Sheikh Ahmad ibn Umar Kanoma, the chairman Zakkat and Endowment Board called on the wealthy individual to avoid politicization of yearly arms (Zakkat) and Endowment for the sustainability of the programs.

Sheikh Kanoma also said, last year’s Mass marriages had tremendously impacted on stabilization of the society.

The Royal Father Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad chairman state council of chiefs, confirmed the title of “Gatan Marayu” to the first lady and said, Hurriya made 45 official outings to support less privileged.

Khadi Alhassan Gummi applauded the state government for the Orphans and less privileged Mass marriages which according to him will help in reducing immorality in the society.
