By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Lagos State Task Force has arrested a 48-year-old man, Makinde Rasaq, for allegedly dumping refuse on a road.
The arrest was announced by the state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on social media.
According to Wahab, Rasaq is being held at the Task Force office in Oshodi, Lagos, pending further action. “The individual… was apprehended for indiscriminate disposal of refuse and is currently in custody at the Task Force Office, Oshodi, for further processing in line with extant environmental laws of Lagos State,” Wahab said.
The commissioner reiterated the state government’s zero-tolerance policy on environmental infractions, warning that offenders would be held accountable. “Indiscriminate waste disposal poses serious risks to public health, drainage systems, and overall environmental sustainability,” he added.
