Opposition Senators From Rivers Move To Ruling Party In The Senate

Senator Mpigi Barinada representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, and Senator Allwell Onyesoh representing Rivers East Senatorial District have defected from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressives Congress.

In their formal communications to the Senate Tuesday, they cited deep and unresolved internal division across levels of the PDP as reasons for the defection.

The defection of the two Senators brings the number of APC members in the Senate to 78.

A delegation from the National Secretariat of the APC were in chamber to witness the formal defection and welcome them to the ruling party
