Popular Nigerian music star, Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, alongside social commentator Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, visited Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Lagos on Thursday.

According to a statement by Osho Onimisi Joseph, Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Correctional Service, Lagos State Command, the visit aimed to gain insight into the procedures for releasing inmates eligible for discharge through fine payments.

The Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Sanni Richard, briefed the duo on the processes governing fine payments, eligibility, and the safeguards ensuring transparency and compliance with court orders. The Nigerian Correctional Service clarified that fine payments for eligible inmates follow court judgments and correctional regulations, emphasizing that no inmate is released without due process and proper authorization.

The Service assured the public that inmates are held in safe, secure, and humane conditions, in line with the Nigerian Correctional Service Act and international best practices. It commended initiatives promoting access to justice, custodial decongestion, and humane treatment of inmates, reaffirming its commitment to rehabilitation and reintegration.
