A medical doctor, Ibrahim Tahir, abducted in Auchi, Edo state, has regained his freedom after his family reportedly paid N50 million in ransom.

Tahir was kidnapped alongside his younger brother, Abu Tahir, on January 2, 2026, at their residence on City Pride road, Igbira camp.

The duo were abducted while opening the gate to their compound after returning from work.

Abu, a newly graduated medical doctor, was killed by the abductors while in custody.

His body was discovered by the Orle river near Down City Pride road, Igbira camp, on January 5.

The kidnappers initially demanded N200 million for both victims, later reducing it after the killing, with reports varying between N100 million and N40 million before settling at N50 million paid in two tranches — N20 million and N30 million.
