The National Chairman of Amnesty Phase 3, Gen Ogidigba, has thrown his weight behind Chief Dennis Otuaro, saying he is the solution to the lingering challenges facing the amnesty program in the Niger Delta region.

Gen Ogidigba lamented that the program derailed after Hon Kingsley Kuku left office, leading to incompetent hands taking over with moves to allegedly scrap the program. He cited instances of leaders allegedly raking in millions of naira to the detriment of genuine beneficiaries.

However, since Chief Otuaro’s appointment, the narrative has changed. The number of students on scholarship has increased from less than 100 to over 4,000, leaders’ training is ongoing, and laptops have been given to students.

Gen Ogidigba is appealing to Chief Otuaro to increase leaders’ training and start vocational training, suggesting it can run concurrently in different locations.

He urged amnesty leaders, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to support Chief Otuaro’s administration to maintain peace in the Niger Delta region.
