A Delta State High Court sitting in Warri has granted an interim injunction restraining Jude Gbaboyo Akpodubakaye from blackmailing and posting defamatory content about Chief (Dr.) Dennis Brutu Otuaro, administrator of the presidential amnesty programme, PAP.

The court, presided over by Hon. Justice A.O. Akpovi, issued the order on February 5, 2026, pending the hearing of the interlocutory injunction in Suit No. W/39/2025 between Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro (Claimant) and Jude Gbaboyo Akpodubakaye (Defendant).

The injunction bars Gbaboyo, his associates, or anyone acting on his behalf from posting disparaging content about Chief Otuaro on social media platforms, including Meta and X, or through online and print media.

Chief Otuaro, represented by B.E. Oghenekaro (Mrs.) of Otuaro and Otuaro Associates, had filed a defamation suit against Gbaboyo on January 29, 2025. Despite the pending case, Gbaboyo allegedly posted defamatory videos against Chief Otuaro on December 6, 2025, prompting the court action to take action.

The case has been adjourned to March 30 and April 27, 2026, for the hearing of the Motion for Interlocutory Injunction and Pretrial Conference.

The order reads “AN INTERIM INJUNCTION restraining the Defendant by himself, privies, assigns or anybody acting on his instructions or authority from posting disparaging, damaging and defaming posts against the Claimant to injure his character and reputation in any of the social media platforms of Meta and X; online or print media platforms or take any steps to render the court in a state of complete hopelessness pending the determination of the motion on notice”.

The Claimant/Applicant was represented by B. E. Oghenekaro (Mrs.) a lawyer in chambers in the Law Firm of Otuaro and Otuaro Associates. The case is adjourned to the 30th day of March and 27th day of April 2026 for the hearing of the Motion for Interlocutory Injunction and Pretrial Conference.
Chief Dennis Otuaro instituted this Suit for defamation of character against Jude Gbaboyo Akpodubakaye on the 29th day of January 2025.

“While the matter is pending before the Court, the said Jude Gbaboyo Akpodubakaye went ahead to post other defamatory videos against the Claimant on the 6th of December 2025. Hence, the Claimant brought this application to restrain Jude Gbaboyo Akpodubakaye from defaming the Claimant pending the determination of the substantive matter”.
