Kebbi Boat Mishap: Gov. Idris Consoles Yauri over Death of 14 Persons

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has condoled with the people of Yauri over a boat mishap that claimed fourteen lives.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris, the Governor’s condolence message was delivered by the Chairman of Yauri Local Government Area, Abubakar Shu’aibu, who represented him at the funeral prayers of the deceased.

Governor Idris urged the bereaved families to accept the will of Almighty God in good faith and prayed for the forgiveness of the victims’ shortcomings, as well as their admission into Aljannatul Firdaus.

The Local Government Chairman said the accident occurred at Gumbi village in Yauri after the victims had accompanied a bride to Gwarzo village in Ngaski Local Government Area.

He explained that the boat capsized while conveying over one hundred passengers back home, resulting in the death of fourteen persons, including thirteen women and a child.

All the victims have since been buried according to Islamic rites.‎
