Chelle Tables 19 Conditions for Contract Extension as NFF Weighs Decision
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
According to an in-depth investigation and fact-checking by Shina Oludare, the full set of demands submitted by Eric Sékou Chelle for a contract extension has emerged, outlining 19 conditions formally delivered to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on 22 January 2026.
The document, published in full as submitted, details extensive logistical, operational and financial provisions sought by the coach.
They include a private SUV with chauffeur and security, a house in a secure area with 24-hour electricity, a furnished office with a projector for analysis, internet access, GPS provision, and appropriate equipment based on the coach’s requirements.
Chelle also requests travel arrangements for his family—business-class flights for himself and his wife, and economy-class tickets for their two children—alongside the right to choose international friendly matches based on opponents.
The proposals further cover structured camping programmes, youth development initiatives, and provisions to travel domestically and abroad to scout and engage players across senior and age-grade national teams.
Key governance-related clauses include non-interference in team selection and player call-ups, the issuance of working contracts for his staff, and monthly meetings involving all national team coaches.
Financial terms stipulate salary payments on or before the 30th of each month, bonuses and allowances in line with federation structures, inclusion of his personal assistant in bonus arrangements, and a proposed monthly salary of $130,000—covering his technical staff and PA.
The NFF is yet to publicly respond to the submission, with deliberations expected as the federation considers the scope and implications of the proposed terms.
