SWUYN Begins 10th Anniversary Celebration with Call for Youth-Led Economic Revolution
By Monday Peters, Abuja
The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN) has kicked off its 10th Anniversary celebrations, urging Nigerian youths to leverage digital platforms and entrepreneurship to drive economic growth. The event, held at De Ellis Event Centre in Delta State, brought together visionary leaders and hundreds of young people from across the country.
Speakers emphasized the importance of youth voice in policy-making, highlighting the potential of social media in amplifying advocacy efforts. They encouraged attendees to shift from job-seeking to creating value, with one speaker noting, “The certificate gets you in the door, but your skills and ability to solve a problem keep you in the room.”
The event also featured technical and vocational training sessions, focusing on high-demand areas like renewable energy, IT, and vocational arts. SWUYN plans to recognize outstanding contributors to youth welfare, including Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and government officials.
The celebration continues through March 12th, with an awards ceremony recognizing those who have made significant contributions to youth empowerment.
