SWUYN 10th Anniversary: Youth Empowerment Key to Nigeria’s Development, Says Bayelsa DG
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
The Director General of the Bayelsa State Centre for Youth Development Deacon Robert Joel Igali, has emphasised the importance of youth empowerment in driving Nigeria’s development.
Speaking on Day 1, at the 10th Anniversary of the Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN), Igali highlighted the need for mental resilience, confidence, and productivity in overcoming unemployment challenges.
Igali noted that unemployment should not be viewed as a permanent defeat, but rather as a temporary phase for personal reinvention. He cited examples of individuals in Bayelsa who have transformed setbacks into success through youth development initiatives.
The Director General stressed that confidence grows through continuous learning, setting achievable goals, and exploring entrepreneurship. He also emphasized the importance of productivity, urging young people to acquire skills and explore sectors such as agriculture, digital services, and hospitality.
Igali commended SWUYN for its decade-long commitment to youth empowerment and urged all stakeholders to recommit themselves to building a future where Nigerian youths are empowered to thrive.
