By Monday Peters, Abuja
A prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Ebis Moni, has expressed his gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for including the Torugbene-Ojobo road project in the 2026 budget. The project, which spans approximately 9 kilometers, has been a long-standing request from the Ojobo community and surrounding Ijaw areas.
Chief Moni, who had previously expressed disappointment over the delay in approving the project, acknowledged the governor’s effort in listening to the demands of the Torogbene/Ojobo people. He urged the governor to expedite the release of funds to the contractor handling the project to ensure its timely completion.
The approval of the Torugbene-Ojobo road project has been welcomed by the leaders and stakeholders, who have been advocating for improved connectivity and access to the upland areas. The project is seen as a crucial step in addressing the infrastructure challenges faced by the region when completed.
However, the Ijaw communities in the state had been emphasiing the need for inclusive development, citing their significant contributions to the state’s revenue through oil production.
