Delta Police Launch Police Week Activities Ahead of National Police Day 2026

The Delta State Police Command has officially commenced activities to mark the National Police Day 2026 celebration, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening community relations and enhancing public safety across the state.

In a press release issued on March 27, 2026, the Command announced its readiness to fully participate in the nationwide celebration, unveiling a lineup of events under the theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

The initiative, according to the Command, highlights the importance of collaboration between the Police and the public in promoting safety, mutual trust, and sustainable peace.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated that the week-long activities are designed to deepen police–community engagement, raise awareness on public safety issues, and honour officers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication in service to the nation.

Scheduled Activities

Activities for the Police Week celebration include:

  • Monday, March 30, 2026:
    Environmental sanitation and cleaning exercise within the Asaba metropolis, alongside a medical outreach programme at the Police Headquarters, Asaba.
  • Tuesday, March 31, 2026:
    Walkathon for peace and public safety, commencing from the Police Headquarters through Challenge along Okpanam Road, Asaba.
  • Wednesday, April 1, 2026:
    Community engagement and sensitization programme focusing on the dangers of electoral violence and the importance of safe driving practices.
  • Thursday, April 2, 2026:
    Presentation of cheques to families of fallen officers on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, in honour of personnel who lost their lives in active service.
  • Tuesday, April 7, 2026 (Abuja):
    Grand finale featuring a ceremonial parade and tactical display.

The Command called on residents, community leaders, stakeholders, and partner organisations to actively participate in the activities as part of a shared commitment to strengthening trust, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens while fostering stronger ties with the communities it serves.
