Pipeline Contracts: Ogidigba warns IYC factional president against inflammatory statements, urges security agents to watch closely
By Monday Peters, Abuja
National Chairman of Phase 3 Amnesty Program, Gen Ogidigba Godstime, has warned against the activities of Mr Alaye Theophilus, a self-proclaimed Ijaw Youth Council President, labeling him an agent of oil theft and illegal bunkering cartels.
In a statement, Gen Ogidigba alleged that Alaye is part of a group sponsored by oil bunkering cartels seeking to disrupt peace in the Niger Delta Region. He claimed these cartels are struggling to resume operations after Tantita Security’s efforts to destroy their camps.
Gen Ogidigba called on security agencies, including the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Security Service, to investigate Alaye and his associates for threatening the peace ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the NNPC to disregard calls to decentralize the pipeline security contract with Tantita Security Service Limited, citing Tantita’s success in protecting pipelines and combating oil theft.
Ogidigba emphasized that peace in the Niger Delta Region should not be compromised for self-centered individuals.
