By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has announced a large-scale deployment of personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure Easter celebration.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Command confirmed that comprehensive security measures have been activated, with officers strategically stationed at churches, event centres, highways, recreational facilities, and other public places. Tactical teams and patrol units have also been positioned across key locations to deter criminal activities and provide rapid response to emergencies.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyenisi, directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify visibility policing and sustain intelligence-driven operations throughout the festive period. He emphasized the need for heightened alertness and proactive engagement to maintain public safety.
The CP also disclosed that commanders have been instructed to collaborate closely with religious leaders within their jurisdictions, maintaining open communication before, during, and after the Easter celebrations to enhance security coordination.
While urging professionalism among officers, Yemi Oyenisi charged personnel to remain courteous and respectful in their interactions with members of the public.
The Command called on residents to stay vigilant and security-conscious, advising them to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its control room line. Parents and guardians were equally encouraged to closely monitor their children and wards during the festivities.
Reiterating its commitment to the protection of lives and property, the Police assured residents of a safe environment and appealed for continued public cooperation in maintaining peace and order across the state.
The Command further extended goodwill messages to Christian faithful, wishing them a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration.
