Real Madrid ‘still one of the best teams in Europe — Kompany
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Vincent Kompany is expecting to face the best version of Real Madrid when his Bayern side visits the 15-time former kings of Europe in a Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.
While Bayern have lost just one of their last 25 games in all competitions, Real head into the match at Estadio Bernabeu on the back of Saturday’s 2-1 La Liga loss away to Mallorca – ‘Los Blancos” third defeat in their last nine fixtures.
But in Kylian Mbappe, Real have the leading scorer in this season’s competition – with 13 goals – while Federico Valverde produced a hat-trick in the first leg of the club’s round of 16 tie against Manchester City, and Vinicius Junior grabbed both goals in the second leg.
Bayern have their own hotshot in Harry Kane, who, with ten goals, sits second in the Champions League scoring charts alongside Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, although the England captain will need to overcome a minor knock to play in Tuesday’s match.
