Ever Since You’ve Been Calling The Name Of Allah and Jesus, Nigeria Hasn’t Gotten Better — Singer 9ice
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Nigerian singer, 9ice, has stirred reactions online after sharing his unfiltered opinion about religion and productivity in Nigeria.
In a viral clip making rounds on social media, the music star questioned the heavy religious culture in the country, arguing that constant religious activities may be affecting productivity and national progress.
Speaking candidly, 9ice said, “You’ll leave Nigeria and go to Mecca to go and lick rock all in the name of Kabba, ever since you’ve been calling on Allah and Jesus, this country hasn’t gotten any better.”
He went on to highlight Nigeria’s natural wealth while lamenting the country’s slow development despite its resources.
According to him, “We have crude oil, we have everything we need, yet we are backwards.”
The singer also compared Nigeria to life abroad, using London as an example to stress his point about work culture.
He added, “If you go to London, nobody goes to church there. They only go to their place of work. You go to church on Sunday, bible study on Wednesday, vigil on Friday; when would you work. You don’t have a job but you are constantly going to church.”
