Delta Police Deploy Massive Security Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

The Delta State Police Command has announced extensive security deployments across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, assuring residents and Muslim faithful of adequate protection throughout the festive period.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, said the Command has activated comprehensive security measures to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police ordered the massive deployment of officers and men from Area Commands, Tactical Teams, Divisions, and other operational units to strategic locations across the state. The deployment will cover Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, and other identified vulnerable areas.

The Command also disclosed that it would collaborate closely with other security and safety agencies, including the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to strengthen security during the festivities.

CP Oyeniyi directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence gathering and sustain aggressive policing strategies across their jurisdictions. The measures include visibility policing, raids on criminal hideouts and black spots, stop-and-search operations where necessary, and continuous patrols aimed at deterring criminal activities.

The police boss warned criminal elements to stay away from Delta State, stressing that the Command is fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace and safety.

He also urged residents to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious persons or activities through the Command Control Room on 08036684974.

While extending Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful on behalf of officers and men of the Command, CP Oyeniyi called on residents to continue supporting security agencies, emphasizing that security remains a collective responsibility.
