“Goodluck Jonathan Is Our ‘God’ in the South-South, So I Won’t Speak Against Him” – Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has spoken highly of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, calling him a figure of great respect in the South-South region.

Amaechi made the comment during an interview with Chude Jideonwo while discussing his political journey and past relationships with key Nigerian leaders.

Despite their well-known political clashes in the past, Amaechi avoided criticizing Jonathan during the interview.

He said Jonathan holds a special place in the hearts of South-South people because of his historic emergence as Nigeria’s president.

“For us in the South-South, Goodluck Jonathan is our god for now, so I will not talk about him_,” Amaechi stated.

When pressed further about their previous political battles, Amaechi repeated the remark, saying he preferred not to speak negatively about Jonathan. He noted that his stance comes from respect for Jonathan’s achievements and the symbolic role he plays for the region.

The former Rivers governor stressed that he has no interest in reopening old political disputes involving Jonathan. Instead, he chose to highlight the admiration and respect the former president still commands across the South-South.
