Osia Defends Tompolo, Warns Gbabojor, Oliver Fejero, Yemi Otuedon to Desist From Baseless Attacks, Blackmail, Character Assassination

A prominent Niger Delta stakeholder and former SSA to Edo State governor, Hon. David Osia, has strongly condemned what he described as a sustained campaign of blackmail, abuse, and misinformation against the Ijaw leader and renowned Niger Delta freedom fighter, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Speaking on recent attacks and criticisms directed at the Ijaw leader, Osia specifically cautioned individuals including Jude Gbabojor, Oliver Fejero, Yemi Otuedon, and others allegedly involved in disparaging remarks against Tompolo to desist immediately from what he termed acts of disrespect and character assassination.

According to Osia, Tompolo remains one of the most influential figures in the Niger Delta region whose contributions to peace, security, and development have earned him admiration and respect across ethnic, political, and social divides. He noted that the Niger Delta leader has consistently demonstrated commitment to the advancement of the region and the promotion of national unity.

“High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo has sacrificed immensely for the peace, stability, and development of the Niger Delta. His efforts have contributed significantly to the reduction of insecurity in the waterways and the protection of critical national assets. Such a man deserves respect and appreciation rather than unwarranted attacks,” Osia stated.

The Niger Delta stakeholder expressed concern over what he described as deliberate attempts by certain individuals to tarnish Tompolo’s image through false narratives and unsubstantiated allegations. He maintained that the Ijaw leader has remained focused on initiatives that promote peace, economic growth, and environmental sustainability in the region.

Osia further alleged that many of those attacking Tompolo are motivated by personal interests and financial gains rather than genuine concerns for the welfare of the Niger Delta people. He described such critics as “enemies of progress” who resort to negative campaigns in pursuit of relevance and personal benefits.

He warned that continued attacks on Tompolo could undermine the unity and progress being recorded in the region, urging all stakeholders to embrace constructive engagement rather than divisive rhetoric.

“Those who continue to insult and abuse Tompolo should understand that the people of the Niger Delta recognize his sacrifices and contributions. We will no longer tolerate campaigns of calumny aimed at discrediting a man who has devoted a significant part of his life to the struggle and development of our region,” Osia said.

He called on youths, community leaders, and stakeholders across the Niger Delta to remain united and resist attempts by individuals or groups seeking to create unnecessary divisions through misinformation and character attacks.

Osia concluded by reaffirming his support for Tompolo and urged critics to pursue dialogue and constructive criticism rather than engaging in what he described as baseless attacks against one of the region’s most respected leaders.
