Delta Police Secure 23 Traffic Convictions as Statewide Enforcement Intensifies

The Delta State Police Command has recorded twenty-three convictions in its ongoing statewide traffic law enforcement exercise aimed at promoting road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.

The Command disclosed that twenty-six vehicles were apprehended for various traffic-related offences and subsequently arraigned before the Mobile Court established by the Delta State Government for immediate adjudication.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the enforcement exercise is in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and forms part of the Command’s commitment to maintaining public order, enhancing road safety, and enforcing existing traffic laws across the state.

At the conclusion of the court proceedings, twenty-three offenders were convicted and ordered to pay fines commensurate with their respective offences, while three others were discharged and acquitted.

The Command noted that the outcome of the proceedings underscores its determination to ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations through lawful, transparent, and effective enforcement measures.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain the exercise throughout the state, warning that violators of traffic laws would continue to face appropriate legal sanctions.

He also urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and adequately documented while complying with all traffic regulations at all times.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a culture of road safety and responsible driving as part of broader efforts to safeguard lives and maintain order on the state’s highways.
