Delta CP Visits Warri Monarchs, Warns Officers Against Misconduct, Reaffirms Community Policing

The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to intelligence-led and community-based policing as he continued his familiarization tour of Area Commands with a visit to the Warri Area Command.

During the visit on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Commissioner paid separate courtesy visits to Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri Kingdom; Kingsley Emakpo Orereh (Igbi II), the Ovie of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom; and Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpimi-Egboboyen (Owhotemu II), the Ovie of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions and deepen community policing across Delta State.

Speaking during the visits, CP Oyeniyi commended the royal fathers for their unwavering support to the Nigeria Police Force, describing traditional institutions as indispensable partners in promoting peace, security and stability in their communities.

The Commissioner also reiterated the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on strengthening collaboration with stakeholders and advancing grassroots policing through effective community partnerships.

In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers welcomed the Commissioner and pledged their continued support to the police in sustaining peace, law and order within their respective kingdoms.

The familiarization tour concluded with an interactive session involving officers and men of the Warri Area Command, community leaders and other critical stakeholders, where the Commissioner delivered a strong message on professionalism, discipline and accountability.

He charged police personnel to uphold the highest standards of integrity, remain civil in their interactions with members of the public, respect fundamental human rights and adhere strictly to the extant regulations of the Force.

CP Oyeniyi warned officers against engaging in acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force, declaring that there is “no room for impunity” under his leadership.

He stressed that every officer must conduct himself in a manner that reflects the core values and ethical standards of the Force, while also cautioning against violations of the Nigeria Police Force’s Social Media Policy.

According to him, officers’ conduct, both online and offline, must at all times conform to the regulations guiding the Force.

Reaffirming the Command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-driven policing, the Commissioner urged community leaders and other stakeholders to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information.

He noted that effective policing and enhanced public safety can only be achieved through collective responsibility and stronger partnerships between security agencies and the communities they serve.
