PAP: Drop Anger, Embrace Dialogue, Gen. Ogidigba Urges Amnesty Leaders, Delegates

The National Chairman of the Phase 3 Presidential Amnesty Programme, Gen. Godstime Ogidigba, has appealed to leaders and delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) to set aside grievances, embrace dialogue and work collectively towards resolving the challenges confronting the programme.

Gen. Ogidigba, in a statement, particularly urged the “Big Five” leaders of the Amnesty Programme to close ranks and convene a stakeholders’ meeting aimed at finding a sustainable way forward for the programme.

He stressed that the current peace and stability being enjoyed in the Niger Delta should not be taken for granted, noting that it was achieved through the collective efforts, sacrifices and contributions of leaders and stakeholders across the region.

According to him, stakeholders must avoid actions capable of undermining the fragile peace in the Niger Delta, emphasizing that “peace is priceless.”

The Phase 3 chairman also called on traditional rulers, political leaders, opinion leaders and other influential stakeholders to urgently intervene in the ongoing issues surrounding the Amnesty Programme and facilitate dialogue among the various parties.

He appealed to all concerned to prioritize unity, mutual understanding and constructive engagement, stressing that the region stands to benefit more when its leaders work together rather than pursue divergent interests.

Gen. Ogidigba said a united approach would help protect the gains made under the Presidential Amnesty Programme and ensure that the initiative continues to contribute meaningfully to peace, security and development in the Niger Delta.

He concluded with a call for collective responsibility, stressing that “united we stand, divided we fall.”
