Ex-President Jonathan, Gov Oborevwori, Diri, Ex-Gov Ibori Bid, Others Farewell to Pa Penawou in Bomadi

Ex- President Goodluck Jonathan, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri, and former Delta Governor Chief James Ibori were among prominent leaders who gathered in Akugbene Town, Bomadi LGA, on Saturday to pay their last respects to the late Prince Isaac Firimokumo Penawou.
The funeral service drew a large crowd of political figures, government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders who came to celebrate the life of the 104-year-old patriarch.
Pa Penawou was the father of Delta State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Prince Kelly Penawou, and Chief Joseph Penawou, Chairman/CEO of First Marine Engineering Services Limited.
The turnout of a former president, two serving governors, and a former governor highlighted the influence of the Penawou family and the late elder’s wide network built over a century of life.
Other dignitaries present included former Deputy Governor Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, former Senator James Manager, Rep Hon. Nicholas Mutu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Delta Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Renaissance Africa Energy MD Mr. Tony Attah, and Seplat CEO Engr. Effiong Okon.
Mourners used the occasion to offer prayers and condolences to the Penawou family, while reflecting on the legacy of a man who lived 104 impactful years.
The rites ended with tributes to Pa Penawou’s long life of service, as family members and guests expressed gratitude for having witnessed his remarkable journey.
With his passing, Prince Penawou leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by his family, community, and all whose lives he touched.
