Yari’s Appointment Will Boost Tinubu’s 2027 Victory – Shinkafi

A former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has described the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council as a strategic decision that could strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s chances of victory in the election.

Shinkafi, who is aspiring to represent Zamfara North Senatorial District in 2027, said Yari’s extensive grassroots experience, political network and organisational capacity made him suitable to lead the campaign for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He stated this in a statement issued on Saturday, while commending President Tinubu for entrusting Yari with the responsibility.

According to Shinkafi, Yari’s appointment reflects the president’s recognition of political experience, competence and inclusivity in preparing for the 2027 elections.

He described the former governor as “a man of structure, unmatched experience and proven loyalty”, saying his political career had equipped him with the skills required to coordinate a nationwide campaign.

Shinkafi traced Yari’s political career to his grassroots involvement in Zamfara, where he served as secretary and later chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

He said Yari played a key role in the campaign that secured the re-election of former Zamfara governor, Ahmad Sani Yarima, in 2003, before subsequently serving as national treasurer of the party.

The former APGA national secretary also recalled Yari’s stint in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011, where he represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency.

He further credited Yari with playing a significant role in the establishment and consolidation of the APC in Zamfara when he was governor of the state.

Shinkafi said Yari’s longstanding relationships with grassroots politicians, traditional institutions, youth and women groups had given him a broad political network that could be deployed in mobilising support for the APC across the country.

“Senator Yari stands today as an undeniable pillar of political strength in Zamfara, across Northern Nigeria, and indeed throughout the entire federation,” he said.

He urged APC members, stakeholders and other Nigerians who support democratic development to cooperate with the campaign council under Yari’s leadership.

Shinkafi, who served as a patron of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in 2023, expressed confidence that Yari would provide effective leadership and coordination for the 2027 campaign.

“With Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari leading the charge as Director-General, we have no doubt that this Campaign Council will be disciplined, focused and capable of delivering victory to the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and the APC,” he said.
