BREAKING: Ijaw Women’s Rights Forum Demands Justice Over Alleged Assault of Two Girls in Delta

UGHELLI, DELTA STATE — The Ijaw Women Rights’ Protection Forum has raised alarm over the reported assault of two young Ijaw girls from Bomadi Local Government Area, Miss Kate and Miss Sarah, who are currently resident in Ughelli.

The group strongly condemned the alleged attack, describing it as unacceptable and a serious infringement on the girls’ fundamental rights, dignity and personal safety.

The Forum is demanding an immediate and impartial investigation by the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant authorities, with anyone found culpable brought to justice in line with Nigerian law.

It further appealed to the Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs, human rights bodies, community leaders and other stakeholders to urgently intervene and ensure the victims receive appropriate protection, medical attention, psychological support and access to justice.

The organisation stressed that violence and abuse against women and girls must not be tolerated or ignored, pledging to continue advocating for the protection and dignity of women and children across the Niger Delta.

The Forum signed off its statement with its commitment to “Justice for Women, Dignity, and Change.”
