Niger Delta rights activist and publisher, Comrade Ozobo Austin, has lambasted the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, over his prophecy that High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, would go on exile if President Bola Tinubu loses his re-election bid.

Primate Ayodele had in his recent prophecy claimed that President Tinubu may fail in his re-election bid and that Tompolo, who is at the forefront of the campaign for his re-election, would flee the country.

Reacting in a statement on Thursday, Ozobo described the prophecy as “reckless and provocative” and an insult to the people of the Niger Delta.

“My attention has been drawn to a purported prophecy by the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele… I find such prophecies not only reckless and provocative, but also an insult to the sensibilities of the good people of the Niger Delta,” he said.

Ozobo argued that the prophecy lacked biblical basis, stating: “This is not biblical, but a demonstration of failed discipleship of Christ.”

He maintained that Tompolo’s support for President Tinubu is within his constitutional rights and not a crime. “The Nigeria constitution and extant laws give rights to citizens to vote and support any person or party of their choices. Tompolo’s support for President Tinubu doesn’t constitute any crime. Even if Tinubu failed re-election it is not a ground for Tompolo to be hunted,” Ozobo stated.

The activist declared that no force can expel Tompolo from the country, stressing: “Let it be made abundantly clear that nobody, including any government force, can exile Tompolo from Nigeria. Tompolo is not a fugitive. He is a bonafide citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a respected leader of the Niger Delta, and a custodian of the peace that this country currently enjoys.”

According to him, Tompolo has sacrificed for national stability and is currently contributing to the economy through the protection of critical national assets in the Niger Delta.

Ozobo warned that any attempt to exile their leader would have dire consequences: “Any attempt or insinuation that he would be exiled is a declaration of full-blown war against the Niger Delta people, and we will resist it with everything at our disposal.”

He advised the cleric to desist from heating up the polity, saying: “I advise Primate Elijah Ayodele to keep his politically-motivated prophecy to himself. As a cleric, he should concern himself with the pulpit and not overheat the polity with predictions capable of causing tension and ethnic distrust.”

“The Niger Delta people are solidly behind Tompolo. He will not run, he will not hide, and he will never be exiled. Nigeria is his country as much as it is for anyone else,” Ozobo added.
