One feared dead as gunmen invade police checkpoint in Delta

Suspected armed men have allegedly attacked the Police Dragon squad of Delta State Command, shot three policemen and killed a Chief, identified as Jose Onalugbum and escaped with their rifles along Ozoro /Kwale road in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the State.

The incident reportedly happened at Obodogwua Ogume at about 8:15 am at his Oduegbala farmland during the weekend.

It was gathered that three of the eight policemen on the spot who were seriously wounded have been admitted to an undisclosed hospital.

According to BluePrint, the deceased victim was reportedly shot repeatedly by the gunmen, and the body had been deposited at a mortuary near the area.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident. According to him, “the incident happened”, said the “dragon tasked force police went after the hoodlums, killed two, and recovered two AK47 rifles.”
