A Katsina businessman, Anas Ahmadu, his seven-months pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter have regained their freedom three weeks after being kidnapped.

The family was released on Wednesday night, 17 September, after spending 21 days in captivity.

A relative confirmed to reporters that a ransom of N50 million was paid to secure their release.
“Alhamdulillah! Anas, Halimatu, and their daughter have been released by their captors tonight. They are on their way home. But a ransom of N50 million was paid to the assailants,” the source said.

He added that, for security reasons, the location where the victims were collected would not be disclosed.

The family was abducted on 26 August 2025 from their residence in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina metropolis.

The kidnappers initially demanded N600 million for their release, later reducing it to N100 million on 3 September, before finally settling at N50 million.
