ADC Accuses APC of Orchestrating Violent Attack on Members During Lagos Church Service

By Diafa Doubra,
Tension is brewing in Lagos following an attack on members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a church service in Alimosho over the weekend. The party has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of masterminding the assault, likening its conduct to that of a terrorist organisation.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred shortly after ADC members gathered at the church for a thanksgiving service, only for suspected political thugs to invade the premises, disrupting activities and leaving several worshippers injured. The attackers were alleged to have targeted key ADC supporters, further deepening fears of politically motivated violence ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a strongly worded statement, the ADC condemned the incident, insisting that democracy cannot thrive under intimidation and violence. The party called on security agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice, warning that continued attacks on opposition voices could undermine Nigeria’s fragile democracy.
The APC, however, has not immediately responded to the allegations, though political watchers say the development is likely to stoke further tension in Lagos’ already charged political landscape.
