ADC Condemns Harassment of Former Kaduna Governor, Calls for Respect of Opposition Voices
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
The Action Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the reported harassment and attempted arrest of former Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, by security agents at the airport. In a statement, the party accused President Bola Tinubu of using authoritarian tactics to intimidate opposition leaders.
The ADC expressed concern over the detention of Mallam Abubakar Malami (SAN), a key party leader, for three months, alleging he was being persecuted for his political views. The party sees this as part of a broader pattern of intolerance, citing the jailing of its own spokesperson, Hon. Comrade Ezekiel Daniel Perela, in the past.
The statement warned that such actions threaten Nigeria’s democracy and signal intolerance. The ADC called on authorities to clarify the circumstances surrounding El-Rufai’s harassment and ensure respect for all Nigerians’ rights, regardless of political affiliation.
