ADVOCACY: Former Okowa’s Aide Ozobo Bags Activist of Year Award

Foremost Niger Delta Rights and environmental activist, and former political aide to the immediate past governor of Delta State, distinguished Comrade Austin Ozobo, has bagged the Activist of the Year at the Daily Report Nigeria’s Merit and Honorary Awards, MAHA 2023, held in Delta State on Friday.

Ozobo, who is the National Secretary of the Conference for the Actualisation of Human Rights, CAHR, beats his closest rival Comrade Harrison Gwamnishu to win the keenly contested poll.

Other nominees in the contest were Comrade Isreal Joe and Comrade Wonbox but Wonbox later bowed out.

Speaking during the event, the former SA to the governor, Ozobo dedicated the award to God Almighty, to governor Okowa and fellow activists in the struggle and other teeming supporters all over Nigeria.

While commending the event organizers, he said the award would further strengthen him to do more for humanity.

Ozobo who doubled as the National President of the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, commended friends, well-wishers, relatives and fellow activists who took the time to vote for him in this award contest.

However, the award formed a part of the digital newspaper’s third anniversary and was aimed at recognizing and honouring outstanding leaders and personalities whose positive impact had been felt across public and private sectors in Delta State.
