Prominent Niger Delta activists, Comrade Ozobo Austin and Comrade Daniel Ezekiel, have called on Ijaw leaders and stakeholders, including High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, King Ateke Tom, Gov Douye Diri, Gov Fubara Sim, Senator Seriake Dickson, Engr Mathew Tonlagha, High Kestin Pondi, Dr Dennis Otuaro to attend the official decoration ceremony of Colonel Woyengibarakemi Diriyai, who was recently promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, December 5, in Abuja. Diriyai, a distinguished son of Izon Nation from Kaima Town, Bayelsa State, is the only Izon individual from the Niger Delta region to achieve this feat in the current military promotion, making it a moment of great pride and celebration for the Izon Nation.

In an earlier statement, the duo had described Diriyai’s promotion as a momentous and commendable achievement, saying it has sent shockwaves of joy and celebration throughout the Ijaw nation. They praised Diriyai’s exceptional leadership qualities, professionalism, humility, and dedication to service, which have earned him widespread recognition and admiration.

We urge the leadership to roll out the drum in a very loud way and send representatives to Abuja to celebrate this heroic achievement.”
