Akpabio, Akume Urge Nigerians to Remain Patient Amid Economic Reforms

By Diafa Doubra,
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume have appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and resilient as the Federal Government continues its economic reform agenda.
Speaking at a public event, both leaders acknowledged the hardships many citizens are facing as a result of policy adjustments, including the removal of fuel subsidy and exchange rate unification. They, however, insisted that the reforms are necessary steps toward rebuilding the economy and laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth.
Akpabio assured that the government is working tirelessly to cushion the effects of the reforms through targeted interventions and social investment programmes, while Akume emphasized the need for collective sacrifice, stressing that the benefits will become more visible in the long run.
The call comes at a time when inflation, high cost of living, and unemployment remain pressing challenges for millions of Nigerians, prompting mixed reactions from the public. While some believe the reforms will eventually yield positive results, others continue to demand immediate relief measures.
