Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh renewed crisis kill suspected persons, injure scores

A suspected number of persons have been killed in a renewed communal clash between Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh communities
in Warri South West and Udu Local Government Areas of Delta State.
The two warring communities had traded blame on each other, accusing each other of being responsible for the renewed clash in the area.
It was learned several persons died and others sustained varying degrees of bullet injuries on Saturday evening clash.
The Ogbe-Ijoh community claimed that it was Aladja youths that attack the Ogbe-Ijoh community, adding that the invading youths evaded caution by the military’s attempt to stop them.
The warring Ogbe-Ijoh youths said the Aladja youths overwhelmed the military and encroached on their Community, stressing that it took them frantic efforts to repel them.
A source pleaded anonymity in the Aladja community and said it was Ogbe-Ijoh community youths that invaded their community and they were repelled, adding that there were no causalities and damages on the side of the Aladja community.
Another source explained that the shooting lasted for hours with the military men deployed to the area for peacekeeping being overpowered and both groups had it free for all.
When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said he has no details about the renewed clash of both communities but to investigate the incident.
