The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede, has urged Nigerians to exercise caution before passing false judgment on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, regarding allegations of naira abuse.

Olukoyede, in an interview with TVC during the weekend, spoke on the recent controversy, which was sparked by viral videos of Tompolo at a public event, leading to claims of naira misuse.

He warned against the unwarranted vilification of the former Niger Delta ex-agitator, emphasising the fundamental principle that every Nigerian is entitled to a fair hearing.

“Our invitation to Tompolo was made public, and it’s important to reinforce that no one is above the law. We must not rush to judgment based on unfounded allegations. For now, these remain allegations,” Olukoyede noted.

He emphasised, “We are conducting a thorough forensic analysis of the video in question, as we are aware that digital content can easily be manipulated. Our investigation is ongoing, and until it is completed, we cannot jump to conclusions regarding Tompolo’s guilt or innocence. We must uphold the principle of fairness for all Nigerians.”
