Amnesty beneficiaries forum laud Dikio for delivering on PAP mandate
A pressure group under the auspices of the Presidential Amnesty Beneficiaries Initiative, (PABI) has lauded the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, (PAP), Col. Millan Dixon Dikio (Retd) for delivering on the mandate of the scheme with lean resources.
This was made available to Congress correspondent in a press statement signed by its president Comrade Samuel David on Wednesday.
According to the group, Dikio’s remarkable achievements were a clear demonstration of his zeal to find himself on the right side of history.
While speaking at the Board of Trustees meeting at Warri, the group also frowned at the inability of various interventionist agencies set up by the Federal Government to address the concerns of the people of Niger Delta, adding that it was time to make them work.
David, however, address critical issues affecting the Niger Delta region at the meeting, “as the countdown to 2023 general election continues and the political realignment and horse-trading begins.
The statement reads: “I have been monitoring the activities in the political sphere with keen interest. Our focus has been on identifying credible individuals that could make a difference in our troubled and fouled socio-political environment.
“Today, the Niger Delta region and Col. Millan Dixon Dikio (Retd), the Administrator of Presidential Amnesty Office is on the radar. As the saying goes that golden fish has no hiding place, the courageous, amiable administrator has no hiding place
“One of the major reasons responsible for the failure of most public office holders in Nigeria is inadequate knowledge of their job specification and mandate but not so with Col. Dikio who left no one in doubt as to what his mission in Niger Delta is. And as soon as he was announced the Administrator of the office of the President on the Amnesty Programme, he hit the ground running introducing reforms that are targeted and improving the work of the Presidential Amnesty Office and the Niger Delta in general.
“He is always thinking ahead carrying all Stakeholders along. Among other things, he has set up a committee consisting of ex-agitators to ensure effective dissemination of information about the scheme to attract expected development to the region. Col. Dikio knows that the Presidential Amnesty Programme is all about the rehabilitation of ex-agitators, peace and development of the Niger Delta Region. Therefore he would not ponder the interest of the contractors at the expense of the ex-agitators.
“The new philosophy Col. Dikio has adopted is the Igbo apprenticeship model: ” train, mentor and employ.”
This is targeted at making the ex-agitators productively engaged by making those empowered to develop entrepreneurial skills be able to run profitable businesses and employ others too.
“He is really in touch with the critical Stakeholders in the Niger Delta region. He wants the negative perception of the region changed to create an enabling environment for business and investment activities to thrive without Which peace and development of the region would be a mirage.
“Given the excellent performance of Col. Millan Dixon Dikio as an Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, The Presidential Amnesty Beneficiaries Initiative, PABI, a body established to address the socio-economic need of the Amnesty Beneficiaries endorses Col. Millan Dixon Dikio for another term and also call on President Muhammadu Buhari to reappoint Col. Dikio for another term because one good term deserves another,” the group added.
