APC Gets New National Chairman Ahead of 2027 Elections

By Doubra Diafa
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as its new National Chairman, replacing former Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned in June.
Prof. Yilwatda, a former university lecturer and INEC commissioner, currently serves as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. His appointment was confirmed yesterday during the APC National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja. It was supported by President Bola Tinubu and several APC governors.
Reports states that this move is strategic, helping to strengthen the party’s position in the North-East, especially as the 2027 general elections approach. Many see Yilwatda as a bridge between technocrats and grassroots politicians.
Yilwatda’s leadership is expected to bring a more organized and professional touch to the party’s internal affairs.
