APC, INEC Object LP’s Request To Question Technology Experts in 2023 Poll

By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 general election has asked the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja for permission to question the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The LP and Obi are requesting information from INEC about the information and Communication Technology Expertise they utilised to conduct the poll, among other things.
Recall, Congress News had earlier reported how LP and Peter Obi filed a petition to challenge the INEC’s announcement that Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress won the poll.
Obi presented 12 questions to be sent to INEC in two different motions argued by their attorney, Patrick Ikweto (SAN), in an effort to support their suit that questioned the validity of the election.
Kemi Pinhero (SAN), the attorney for INEC, contested to the decision on the grounds that the application was filed outside of the legal window of time.
He argued that by transferring the application outside of the pre-hearing session, the court was stripped of its authority to consider it.
Additionally, the proposal was contested by Tinubu’s attorney, Akin Olujimi (SAN), and the APC’s attorney, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
However, the decision regarding Obi and his party’s interrogatory applications was reserved by the presiding Justice, Haruna Tsammani.
