The All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected the result of the Anambra South Senatorial by-election, describing the exercise as marred by irregularities and electoral malpractice.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared APGA’s Chief Uche Nwosu winner of the election with over 61,000 votes. But APC are not in support with the result, but crying foul play.

In a statement issued by its Anambra State Publicity Secretary, Emeka Okafor, the party alleged widespread voter intimidation, ballot box snatching, and result manipulation in several polling units.

APC’s candidate, Hon. Ifeanyi Okeke, who polled just under 45,000 votes, has vowed to challenge the outcome in court.

The party is calling on INEC to investigate the irregularities, while urging its supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

Although INEC, says the election was free and fair, and advises aggrieved parties to seek redress through the courts.
