The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to give urgent attention to the worsening security situation in Northern Nigeria.

In a heartfelt message during Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary celebrations, the group went on their knees to beg the president to make security in the North a top priority, describing the continued killings, kidnappings, and destruction of communities as unbearable.

According to the group’s spokesperson, many Northern states have been devastated by bandit attacks, leading to loss of lives, displacement of thousands, and economic setbacks. The youths called on President Tinubu to show the same determination he has demonstrated in economic reforms in tackling insecurity.

They further appealed to Northern political leaders to unite in finding lasting solutions, stressing that peace and stability in the North are crucial to the nation’s overall progress.

The Arewa Youths reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the federal government’s efforts, but insisted that “the time for talk is over — action is what the people now need.”
