Atiku Warns of Worsening Insecurity After Kebbi, Zamfara Attacks
By Diafa Doubra, Warri
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep concern over the recent surge in violent attacks across Nigeria, describing the situation as a national crisis. He condemned the abduction of female students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, and the killing of the school’s vice-principal, calling it a tragic reminder of the country’s failing security.
Atiku also criticized the recent killings and kidnappings in Tsafe, Zamfara State, where armed assailants targeted entire communities, abducting women and children and claiming the lives of prominent local figures. He described these attacks as “barbaric” and said they reflect the government’s inability to safeguard citizens, highlighting similar incidents in Plateau, Benue, and Kano as evidence of a nationwide security breakdown.
Urging immediate action, Atiku called on the Tinubu administration to overhaul the nation’s security system, deploy more personnel to high-risk areas, and strengthen intelligence-led operations. He warned that Nigeria “cannot continue on this path” and stressed that protecting citizens and ensuring peace must be a top priority.
