The autopsy of 22-year-old Afrofuji singer Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has confirmed that his death resulted from complications related to drug use, according to reports from Daily Trust.
Destiny Boy, known for blending traditional Yoruba Fuji music with modern Afrobeats, passed away under circumstances that sparked widespread public concern.
Following his death, videos circulated on social media showing his body being transported to a mortuary, fueling speculation about the cause.
The case file had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for guidance but pending the advice, the Police Homicide Section conducted the autopsy, which was reportedly completed about a week ago.
The consultant anatomic pathologist reported that Destiny Boy died from aspiration pneumonitis caused by the ingestion of harmful substances, including tramadol and methamphetamine.
Toxicology tests detected dangerous levels of these drugs in the singer’s system.
The consultant anatomic pathologist established January 17, 2026, as the date of death.
