Ayakoromo agog as Amakosu-ere, Late Mama Awanka Liverpool John-Ogbe laid to rest

The final burial rites of Ayakoromo Amaokosu-ere, Mama Awanka Liverpool John-Ogbe, were held in Ayakoromo town, located in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. It is noteworthy that burial rites are significant cultural events filled with music, dance and communal gatherings that honor the deceased.
The eldest woman of the community lived for 111 years and her death was a celebration of life. At 111 years she was still strong and could walk elegantly. Tributes trooped in as she was commended for her kindness and love for humanity.
However, leaders, stakeholders’ and friends from various walks of life pay their respects, and celebrate the life of the departed Amakosu-ere of Ayakoromo community.
It was gathered that the funeral of the centenarian consisted of traditional dances, songs, and rituals that reflect the customs and beliefs of the Ijaw people. Given the importance of familial and community ties in this culture.
Mama Awanka Liverpool John-Ogbehe funeral was massively attended by people who came to support the family and participated in the celebration of life.
The burial was not just a gathering but a grand funeral rites where the entire Ayakoromo community both home and abroad gathered to celebrate with the family and the community.
