Ayakoromo Amaokosu-ere Mama Awanka Liverpool John-Ogbe to be laid to rest Today

The families of Alaowei in Diamo quarters, Agberewei quarters, Ekeremowei quarters, and Tamokunou in Ayakoromo Town in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State will laid to rest their beloved matriarch, Mama Awanka Liverpool John-Ogbe (nee Alaowei), the eldest woman of the community (Amakosu-ere) who passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 111.
Mama Awanka, a revered Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother, is remembered as a pillar of strength and love in her community.
She is survived by two sisters, three children, 35 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Her surviving sisters include Ekiase Alice Monday and Buosoukumo Ezebri, while her children are Zimughan Okidi, Ekponiezi Nokia, and Bouwurubo John-Ogbe.
The family has announced the following funeral arrangements:
Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The funeral procession will commenced with the corpse leaving Okwagbe Mortuary to Ayakoromo for a social wake-keep at her husband’s compound in Ekeremowei quarters, starting at 6 PM and lasting until dawn.
However, Music for the services will be provided by Peter MD.
The general public is invited to join the family in honoring the legacy of Mama Awanka at the various memorial events.
