A bride-to-be and several others were abducted by suspected bandits in Chacho village, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, just hours before her wedding. The attack occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the assailants taking the bride, her bridesmaids, and eight other residents.

All the victims were women except for one man. One person sustained injuries during the incident and is currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital.

A community resident expressed sorrow over the attack, noting that the bride’s wedding, scheduled for that morning, could not hold as planned. He revealed that seven additional women and one man were also taken during the raid.

The resident criticized the delayed response of security agencies, stating that officials were alerted promptly but only arrived around 2:30 a.m., an hour after the bandits had left. He called on the government to uphold its duty to protect citizens and their property.

Confirming the incident, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, said the details of the abduction were still being investigated.
