Bauchi Shuts Down All Schools Over Rising Kidnap Fears
By: Diafa Doubra, Warri.
The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools across the state following growing fears of possible abductions by terrorists. The decision affects primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, and comes amid heightened security concerns across northern Nigeria. Authorities said the move was necessary to safeguard students and staff.
Officials explained that intelligence reports indicated increased movements of armed groups around border communities, prompting the urgent directive. Security agencies have since been deployed to monitor vulnerable areas, while schools were instructed to suspend activities until further notice. Parents have been advised to keep their children at home for their safety.
The government emphasized that the closure is a temporary but crucial measure as they work to strengthen security around educational facilities. They assured residents that normal activities would resume once the threat level reduces. Meanwhile, communities have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security authorities promptly.
