BREAKING: Cardiac Arrest Claims Life of Nollywood Actor Odira Nwobu in South Africa
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Nigerian actor and popular content creator Odira Nwobu has reportedly passed away in South Africa after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was said to have died at 3:15 a.m. on Monday, 24 November 2025, according to sources close to him.
Although official confirmation is still being awaited, a reliable contact in South Africa revealed that Nwobu was found unresponsive in the early hours of Monday after returning from a night out with friends. He had reportedly gone clubbing the night before and retired to bed but never woke up.

Preliminary accounts indicate that the 38-year-old actor may have suffered heart failure triggered by complications related to high blood pressure, a condition he was believed to have been managing. Some sources suggested that alcohol intake from the night out could have aggravated his condition.
The news has shocked fans and colleagues, especially as it comes only months after Nwobu survived a near-fatal road accident, an incident that sparked widespread celebration of his recovery. His sudden death has left many hoping the report is untrue, given the tragic turn of events following his earlier survival.
Odira Nwobu, known for his comic roles in Nollywood and his vibrant online skits, was also a husband and father. Tributes have begun pouring in across social media, with many describing him as a talented entertainer whose life ended far too soon.
May his soul rest in peace.
