Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed 20 November 2025 for judgment in the terrorism case instituted by the Federal Government against the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The judge announced the date on Friday, following Kanu’s continued refusal to open his defence despite several indications that he would do so.

Earlier on Friday, Kanu filed a motion challenging the continuation of his trial, arguing that terrorism is no longer an offence under Nigerian law. He claimed that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act had been repealed, thereby rendering the charges against him null and void.

Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since 2021, after he was allegedly unlawfully renditioned from Kenya and arraigned by the Federal Government on terrorism-related charges.
