Breaking: Lagos Governor Orders Demolition of Buildings in Banana Island

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has given an order for a total demolition of some buildings in the Banana Island area of the state.

During an on-the-spot assessment of a seven-storey building with some delegation on Saturday, April 22, the governor stated that some buildings should be demolished to avoid eventual collapse.

The seven-storey building inspected by the state government was the one that recently collapsed and was still under construction.

Mr Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary noted this in a post on his Twitter account.

The press secretary asserted that some completed and uncompleted buildings were marked for removal in Banana Island today, April 22, on the instruction of the governor after the inspection tour.

“Some complete and uncompleted buildings are marked for removal in Banana Island today following Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s instruction after the inspection tour,” he tweeted.
